Eighties Richard Williams Studio adverts: Père Dodu, Renault 5 and Narin flooring

Here are four adverts made by Richard Williams' studio that pay tribute to classic Hollywood cartoons. I'm fairly sure that they were all made in the eighties.

First off here's a Tex Avery-influenced advert for a French restaurant chain Père Dodu. Sorry for the poor quality of some of these stills - the wolf character moved too fast for me to get good screengrabs of him.

Also made for French broadcast is this Renault 5 ad, which is influenced by Wile E. Coyote (with a bit of Pepé Le Pew, maybe?)

And finally, two adverts for Nairn flooring in the style of Tom & Jerry (interestingly, the Tom stand-in has Roger Rabbit's trousers). According to the BFI database the first, titled Fridge, was directed by Eric Goldberg; presumably the second was as well.

  1. Neil, I run the unofficial Richard Williams Archive, which is on Youtube as TheThiefArchive. We collect everything from the Richard Williams studio. The quality of this material is terrific and much of it we don't have. Please contact me via my website.

There will be no problem with uploading this material to Youtube - we've uploaded tons of Richard Williams studio advertisements.
